Lin
Rountree, the Smooth Jazz and R&B Trumpeter, is the latest artist
to emerge from the 'new' Detroit music factory. His playing has
been described as soulful, funky, and sensual. Be it R&B, Soul
or Jazz, he has an innate ability to connect his music to his listener's
soul. And his charm, intelligence and wit make him a great entertainer
on and off of the bandstand.
Lin
began playing the trumpet in Alexandria VA. when he was just 11
yrs. old. In high school he frequently attended music workshops
at the famed Duke Ellington School of performing arts just across
the river in Washington DC. Upon graduating he was accepted to and
given a scholarship to play in the world famous marching band, "The
Marching 100" at Florida A&M University. There he began
a life long love of Jazz. "The exposure and access to world
class musicians changed my life!" When Lin graduated from A&M,
he was determined to succeed in music. After living in Atlanta,
Dallas, and Milwaukee, Lin moved to Detroit, with his mind set on
jamming with and learning from all of the legendary musicians still
living there.
During
the past few years, Lin has been at the forefront of the Detroit
music scene. His band, "Lin Rountree and the Groove" has
been featured at numerous festivals, political events, and top jazz
clubs. Most recently he performed as the featured artist in Cancun,
Mexico, at the 3rd annual Cancun Meltdown, hosted by Detroit's #1
Urban AC radio station, MIX 92.3.
Likewise, he is often contracted to perform at events as the house
band for Detroit's #1 Smooth Jazz radio station V98.7.

that has heard this project has been amazed at its mature
production and sound. The songs, all written or co-written
by Lin, are a set of catchy, groove-based tunes that the Smooth
Jazz community will immediately embrace. Many
great musicians lent their expertise to this project. Among
them is nationally renowned smooth jazz guitarist, Tim
Bowman, who is featured in a duet with Lin
on the album's first release to radio, "For Your Love."
